DESTINATION:

Nel cuore del Kenya più selvaggio, tra le pianure del Masai Mara e le viste spettacolari sul Kilimangiaro ad Amboseli, un’esperienza fotografica tra le più emozionanti dell’Africa.

Our itinerary winds through two of Kenya’s most iconic safari areas. The Masai Mara National Reserve , famous for the Great Migration and extraordinary sightings of felines such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, offers documentary-like scenes every day, with herds of elephants and buffalo immersed in endless landscapes.

To the south, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro , Amboseli National Park offers a unique setting for photographing large herds of elephants against the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain. The excellent lighting, open vegetation, and abundance of wildlife make it a favorite among nature photographers from around the world.

Two different but complementary ecosystems for a 7-day photographic safari in Kenya designed for those who want to experience nature in an authentic way, away from the crowds and accompanied by expert guides and professional photographers .

An exclusive journey among the great protagonists of the African savannah.

ABOUT THE TOUR:

This photographic safari in the heart of Kenya will take you to two of Africa’s most iconic parks: the Masai Mara and Amboseli. Over eight days, you’ll enjoy an intense and perfectly balanced experience for those who want to capture the true soul of the African savannah.

Each day will be punctuated by sunrise and sunset safaris aboard vehicles optimized for photography , with a maximum of 3-4 photographers per vehicle , to ensure space, comfort, and freedom of movement at all times. You’ll be accompanied by expert local guides and a professional photographer , who will help you read the light, anticipate animal behavior, and enhance your images in the field.

After an initial overnight stay in Nairobi, we’ll reach an exclusive lodge on the edge of the Masai Mara, just minutes from the main game viewing areas . For four days, we’ll explore the reserve in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and large herds of herbivores, immersed in breathtaking landscapes and far from the crowds.

After a final morning game drive, we’ll return to Nairobi for a night in transit, then head south to Amboseli National Park , where a completely different landscape awaits: backlit elephants , salt flats, solitary acacia trees, and, in the background, the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro . Here, too, a strategically located lodge , exclusive game drives, and a total focus on photography.

A journey designed for those seeking authenticity, technique, and a deep connection with nature . An immersive itinerary that will give you iconic shots, perfect light, and moments that will remain forever etched in your memory .

Our Lodges:

Durante il nostro safari in Kenya alloggeremo in due strutture semplici ma curate, scelte per la loro posizione strategica e per l’atmosfera autentica che offrono.

In the Masai Mara, we’ll be hosted in a comfortable tented camp, surrounded by lush vegetation and located a short distance from the reserve’s main photography spots. The tents are spacious, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and a veranda where you can relax after your safari. The camp offers everything you need to experience a truly natural experience, without sacrificing comfort and tranquility.

In Amboseli , the lodge that will welcome us is a solid and well-managed structure, with masonry rooms furnished in local style. The rooms are simple but welcoming, with private bathrooms, double or twin beds, and common areas where you can gather at the end of the day. The view of Kilimanjaro, weather permitting, is an added bonus that makes the park’s atmosphere even more special.

At both establishments, we can enjoy simple yet carefully prepared dishes, featuring local and international cuisine. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the overall organization is designed to allow us to focus on the experience, photography, and nature, without distractions.

Con Just Explorers potrai contare su un piccolo gruppo, un accompagnamento professionale e tutta l’assistenza necessaria prima, durante e dopo il viaggio.

Rhino Experience Extension: May 15-17

If you would like to start your experience early, before the main tour, participants have the option to add an optional 2-night extension in one of Kenya’s most renowned areas for close-up rhino photography, ideal for those craving wide-angle images, low perspectives and scenes that are extremely rare to obtain elsewhere.

Your stay will be in a small lodge surrounded by nature , featuring spacious rooms, well-maintained spaces, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxing after the main tour. The lodge offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and is strategically located for quick access to rhino activity areas.

Over the two days, we’ll focus on dedicated photo sessions, aiming to capture unique shots, often impossible in more crowded parks. The environment is perfect for working with short focal lengths and taking advantage of the grazing light of the early morning and late afternoon.

The extension is completely optional and not included in the Kenya – Masai Mara & Amboseli package.
The final price depends on the number of participants and can be requested before booking flights, to better organize the logistics.

If you’re interested in this extraordinary experience and adding rare, impactful images to your portfolio, we’re here to provide you with updated details.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions ❓

Do I have to be a photographer to participate?

Absolutely not . The trip is open to everyone, and photography experience isn’t necessary. You can participate as a simple nature lover and experience a comprehensive, well-organized safari, identical to a traditional tourist experience but with a more leisurely pace and greater focus on animal observation.

If you’d like, this tour can also be an opportunity to explore nature photography: you’ll have a professional photographer by your side, ready to explain techniques and tips in a simple and natural way. Upon request, you can also rent a complete photography kit directly through Just Explorers, so you can have your first experience with the right equipment.

And if you prefer not to take pictures, no problem: Africa, the light, the animals, and the atmosphere of the parks are emotions that can be experienced intensely even just with your eyes… or with your cell phone.

What equipment will I need?

For this trip, we recommend versatile photographic equipment, capable of covering both environmental scenes and very close-up subjects. On safari, animals can be found at varying distances, and thanks to the possibility of frequently moving off-road, it’s not necessary to rely exclusively on extremely long focal lengths.

A medium or long telephoto lens, such as a 300mm, 400mm, or 500mm, is ideal for most situations. Even focal lengths around 300mm are often sufficient, as animals tend to get very close to vehicles. Along with a telephoto lens, a medium zoom such as a 70–200mm is highly recommended: it’s particularly useful for environmental shots, scenes with multiple subjects, silhouettes at sunrise and sunset, and for enhancing the landscapes of the Masai Mara.

A wide-angle lens, such as a 24–70 mm, isn’t essential for wildlife photography but can be useful for those who want to create context or reportage images. Teleconverters can be useful in specific cases, but they’re not essential, precisely because of the frequent proximity to subjects.

Among the accessories, a bean bag for placing on vehicles, spare batteries, large memory cards, and a lens cleaning cloth are particularly useful, especially in dustier areas like Amboseli. A rain cover for your equipment and a compact camera backpack that can be easily carried in a jeep are also recommended.

The lodges offer charging options for your camera equipment, and most have European-compatible outlets. For specific experiences, such as walking tours in the conservancy, wide-angle lenses may be recommended.

Are you a nature lover without a camera?

No problem! We recommend bringing binoculars , which are ideal for observing primates and birds. You can also record videos or take evocative photos with your smartphone : Ugandan nature will provide you with unforgettable moments, even without a telephoto lens.

Is rental service available?

Do you think you don’t have the right equipment for this event?
No problem: you can rent a complete Nikon, Canon, or Sony camera kit (DSLR or mirrorless with super-telephoto lenses) to participate in the event and make the most of this experience.

What clothing will I need ?

At this time of year, the temperature range in Kenya is marked, especially between the early morning and afternoon hours.

We recommend layering to face cool mornings, with temperatures that can drop to around 12–14°C , while during the day they easily reach 23–28°C .
No technical clothing is required: light, breathable clothing , long trousers , long-sleeved shirts and a light jacket or fleece for dawn outings are perfect.
Further information on clothing and equipment will be provided after registration.
