The Jura Mountains, on the border between Switzerland and France, hold a stunning landscape of endless forests, highland pastures, and silent valleys shrouded in mist. A still unspoiled environment, where nature follows its own rhythm and wildlife roams undisturbed.
These lands are home to the Alpine chamois, ibex, fox, bearded vulture, and the elusive stoat, along with the possible presence of the majestic European lynx, a symbol of the return of large predators to the continent.
A territory that combines elegance and wildness, perfect for those who want to live an intense and immersive photographic experience in the most secret heart of the Jura mountains.
The meeting point will be directly at the hotel, located in France just a few minutes from the Swiss border, in a strategic position for easy access to all the main photographic locations in the Jura Mountains.
We’ll spend several days immersed in an authentic, wild environment, alternating targeted outings in search of the area’s most iconic animals: the agile stoat, the Alpine chamois, the ibex, and various birds of prey that dominate the skies above these mountains.
The photography trips will take place during the best light, at dawn and dusk, to maximize the subjects and landscapes. Depending on the conditions and wildlife activity, we will alternate field sessions with relaxation, organizing picnic lunches to make the most of our time.
Photographic Activities:
During the photo sessions, the main protagonists will be stoats, chamois, and ibex. Each day will offer the opportunity for numerous sightings, exploring different areas in search of the best settings and the most favorable lighting conditions. The sessions will be itinerant, without the use of shelters, allowing for an authentic and dynamic approach to photography directly from the ground.
There will be plenty of surprises along the way: we might encounter foxes, wildcats, various birds of prey, and, with a bit of luck, even the elusive European lynx. The landscapes will vary depending on altitude and weather, with the possibility of snow cover or not, offering new photographic opportunities every day.
Travel will take place using your own vehicles, optimizing routes and minimizing the number of vehicles.
Trips will be planned based on animal activity and weather conditions, always in consultation with the group. Each decision will be made after carefully evaluating the actual field conditions to ensure maximum photographic effectiveness. Traveling photography requires flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments.
The accommodation:
We’ve chosen a strategically located accommodation, nestled in a French valley at the foot of the Jura mountains, just a few kilometers from the Swiss border. This ideal location will allow us to easily reach all the planned locations, organizing packed lunches and enjoying half-board at the hotel.
The observation areas are usually located within an hour’s drive of the accommodation and are distributed radially around it, allowing us to adapt each outing based on weather conditions and wildlife activity.

DAILY PROGRAM
Day 1
The meeting point will be directly at the accommodation, located in Métabief, France, a few kilometers from the Swiss border. The exact location of the accommodation will be announced closer to the event.
Day 2 to 4
During your stay, we will make the most of all available photo sessions, optimizing time and lighting conditions.
The goal is to go out at dawn and dusk, for a total of six photo sessions in different locations. Each day, trips of about an hour are planned to reach the various areas, alternating between car safaris and walking excursions . The walking excursions will generally be short, on routes of 1–2 km maximum, depending on animal activity and environmental conditions.
Day 5
A day dedicated to returning home: after breakfast, we’ll say goodbye and each of us will begin the journey home.

What equipment will I need?
To best capture the details and essence of these fascinating animals, we recommend using reflex, mirrorless or bridge cameras, equipped with lenses between 200mm and 600mm. This range of focal lengths will allow you to obtain sharp images with correct proportions!
We will photograph in different environmental conditions and with different approaches: safari-style , roaming , or from a hide . We recommend bringing a tripod , which will be used only when absolutely necessary.
During this trip you will have at your disposal an expert professional photographer who will assist you in optimizing the use of your photographic equipment.
Our photographer will be there to offer personalized advice and help you get the most out of your camera and lenses. You will have the opportunity to learn advanced techniques in composition, light control, camera settings and more.

What clothing will I need ?
Temperatures can be quite cold this time of year, especially in the early morning hours and at sunset. It’s therefore important to be well-prepared for variable conditions.
We recommend layered clothing , suitable for temperatures between -10°C and +10°C , so you can easily adapt to changes in the weather throughout the day. Thermal and waterproof boots , technical underwear , a warm down jacket, and a windproof and waterproof jacket are recommended.
The equipment is completed by gloves , a hat and, for those who particularly suffer from the cold, even a neck warmer or balaclava , useful during more static photo sessions.

Important note
Close to the event, all participants will be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group , where they will receive detailed information on what to bring, updated times , weather conditions and any other useful communication to best prepare for the experience.
Terms and Conditions
By booking by paying a deposit to the organizers, you accept the following clauses:
1. As this is a pre-registration, the organizer will endeavor to promptly communicate any possible changes in the price of the tour, characterized by cost fluctuations. An annual price fluctuation of approximately 5% is highly likely if the booking is made more than a year in advance. in relation to potential variations in the prices of ground services (for example variations influenced by the fluctuating costs of electricity, fuel and others).
2. The price of the entire workshop will be paid through the payment methods offered by the organizing body, such as bank transfer, PayPal, credit card or cash according to the procedures and deadlines established by the organizers, taking charge of the transaction costs.
3. In case the tour does not take place due to the organizer, the entire amount paid will be refunded.
4. In case of cancellation for personal reasons of any kind and in any case not dependent on the organizer, the deposit and any other registration fees will be retained as reimbursement of expenses.
5. In case of cancellation for personal reasons within 60 days of departure, the entire balance of the tour will be required.
By registering, paying the deposit and sending your personal data, you accept clauses 1,2,3,4,5 again.
