Destination
Located southwest of London, Richmond Park and Bushy Park represent a rare example of wilderness in the heart of a European capital . Covering over 1,800 hectares, these two former royal hunting grounds are now protected areas , home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife in diverse environments. During autumn, they become the scene of the red deer’s rutting , one of the most fascinating spectacles in European nature: adult males engage in ritual challenges , echoing with guttural calls through the morning mists, and moving in search of females to conquer.
Alongside red deer and European fallow deer , it’s easy to spot numerous other species such as foxes, hares, squirrels, dormice, and badgers , as well as a rich bird community including long-eared owls, green woodpeckers, jays, kites, herons, and wild ducks that inhabit the parks’ ponds, streams, and wetlands . The environment is extremely photogenic, with ancient oak forests, golden heaths, open clearings, and reflective waterways , offering ever-changing and surprising views.
This is urban nature at its purest , easily accessible with cheap flights to London and no need to rent a car. Public transport connects our accommodation seamlessly to the shooting areas, making this tour ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in nature without logistical stress.

EVENT DESCRIPTION
The workshop lasts a total of 4 days and 3 nights , during which we will experience 6 intense photography sessions split between morning and evening. Each outing will be organized to maximize light and animal activity , moving between Richmond Park and Bushy Park in search of interesting situations and natural behaviors. Unlike static tours, here we will focus on itinerant photography , walking the parks’ trails and stopping at the most promising spots based on the light, subject behavior, and weather conditions.
The co-presence of deer and fallow deer in the same areas makes this workshop particularly stimulating, offering the opportunity to compare different behavioral styles and create comprehensive photographic stories . Furthermore, the presence of other animals allows for unexpected opportunities to enrich your nature portfolio. The short sighting distances and the fauna’s accustomedness to human presence allow for stunning shots even with lightweight equipment, making the tour suitable for everyone, from the experienced photographer to the motivated beginner.
We will always be guided by a professional photographer from the Just Explorers team , with in-depth knowledge of the locations, who will plan the journey as efficiently as possible to optimize every photographic moment . Thanks to seamless logistics and the experience gained in previous editions, the workshop offers maximum results with minimal organizational effort , allowing you to focus entirely on photography and nature observation.

During the workshop, you’ll experience six field photography sessions , split between dawn and dusk , alternating between extended observation sessions and dynamic explorations of park paths . Each day will be dedicated to finding the best light , taking advantage of the variable conditions of London’s autumn to capture evocative, moving, and atmospheric images.
We’ll move through ever-changing settings , from misty morning clearings to golden evening woods , passing ponds, streams, and hidden paths. The Just Explorers photographer, thanks to his in-depth knowledge of the area, will select the most promising areas each day, adapting the program in real time to offer you the best photographic opportunities.
The entire workshop will be a full immersion in nature photography , with continuous technical support in the field and a focus on observation, composition, light management and developing a narrative gaze.

Accommodation and logistics
During the workshop we will stay in a welcoming guest house located in the green neighborhood of Kingston Upon Thames , in double/triple rooms with private bathrooms and with cafés, supermarkets and restaurants nearby for all your personal needs.
All local travel will be done in a group using public transport , accompanied by the photographer who knows the timetables and optimal routes perfectly.
This option allows you to avoid logistical complications, reduce environmental impact, and keep the group united during the field days. There’s no need to rent a car or have your own transportation: the entire experience will be managed seamlessly and hassle-free, from departure to return.
