DESTINATION:

The Gran Paradiso National Park extends over 70,000 hectares of high mountain territory, between 800 meters of valley floor and 4,061 meters of Gran Paradiso. The park extends over 4 valleys and occupies two regions. It is the oldest national park in Italy, established on December 3, 1922.

From a naturalistic point of view, it is one of the most interesting parks in Italy, with 68 species of vertebrates, including 52 mammals and 101 nesting birds. Among these, the most significant is undoubtedly the ibex, symbol of the park, but in addition to it, it is also possible to observe the Alpine chamois, the fox, the mountain hare, the stoat and, in recent years, the wolf. Among the birds, the presence of the golden eagle and the bearded vulture is noteworthy.

From a photographic point of view the park is unparalleled. The breathtaking environment, in full Alpine style, offers wonderful views and details. The great density of animals stimulates photographic creativity, giving us the opportunity to experience truly unforgettable moments. In the winter, the park is completely covered in snow and ice. A silent and wild park that each of us should know.

ABOUT THE TOUR:

Immerse yourself for four days in the nature photography of the Gran Paradiso National Park, surrounded by the magical winter atmosphere. We will explore the best areas of the park, looking for suggestive sceneries and animals in the splendid snow-covered Alpine valleys.

The park offers breathtaking environments ideal for photography, especially in winter, when it is possible to observe and immortalize numerous species, including ibex , alpine chamois , foxes, mountain hares, golden eagles and bearded vultures. A professional photographer will be at your side, sharing technical and naturalistic experiences to optimize the use of equipment and improve your photographic skills.

During the day, we will learn basic and advanced shooting techniques to get creative images. After sunset, we will analyze the shots of the day and do post-production sessions to optimize the files.

The goal is to provide participants with knowledge of biology and photography, to practice this passion with respect for nature and with adequate technical skills to take excellent photos in any situation. It will be an intense and engaging experience, which will make you discover a new dimension of nature photography.

The photo sessions will take place in the morning and at sunset, mainly with itinerant photography activities. We will explore the most iconic places of the Park, immersing ourselves in an experience in harmony with nature. The intense days will keep us in the field from dawn to dusk, with practical sessions on basic and advanced shooting techniques to obtain creative and unique images.

Obviously, as in every workshop, we will dedicate a part of the workshop to carry out a complete post-production lesson, to optimize each shot from noise reduction, contrast management, colors and export for printing and the web.

In addition to capturing beautiful photographs and living an unforgettable experience, the focus of this workshop is to show the field approach of experienced professional photographers, revealing the secrets of stalking and nature photography.

RECOMMENDED PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT:

During this workshop we will always shoot in open field and the distances will vary greatly. In some cases, with a bit of luck, we will be able to shoot comfortably with a lens of about 300mm, while in other cases the distances may require a longer lens, especially for those who prefer portraits.

For environmental images, we recommend lenses between 300 and 400mm. For close-ups and portraits, a 500-600mm lens will be more suitable.

We don’t consider the easel essential for this itinerary, but the choice is very personal. We will be on the move often, and using a tripod could slow down sessions and travel. However, if it is deemed essential, it can be used without any problems.

The organization is available for any further questions.
